Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder – OCD and Obsessions With the Past

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder – OCD and Obsessions With the Past

Article by Derek J. Soto

Usually people with OCD don’t obsess over the past, they usually obsess over now and the future. They usually try to do things that will prevent bad things from happening like performing rituals.

However, sometimes when someone obsesses over the past, they may have had a tragic experience and they will perform rituals now in order to try to prevent the same thing from happening again. Although the rituals is usually not rational and would have no realistic affect on stopping the event from happening. This is the type of OCD where a person does rituals based on the past.

What can be done about this? The person needs to realize that what is in the past is in the past and that sometimes bad things happen, even to good people. What they need to do is to realize that the rituals that they are doing are not going to prevent the same thing from happening again. They just need to move on.

Moving on is part of getting over OCD. Getting the skill to get over something and let it go is vital in becoming OCD free.

People with OCD not only sometimes hoard things and stuff, but sometimes they hoard thoughts and rituals. They may keep adding different rituals to their routines making it harder for themselves. I have seen a lot of people say that the rituals are taking so much of their time that they barely have enough time in a day to fulfill them all!

Take action: right now, realize that the past is past, just let it go. You are going to feel anxiety once you truly let it go, but after that subsides, there will be peace and a weight will be lifted off your shoulders and you will be well on your way to learning how to become OCD free!

Panic Attacks – What Can Trigger Them?

Panic Attacks – What Can Trigger Them?

Article by Kate Hobbs

Anxiety disorders and panic attacks can strike anyone under the sun. They do not seem to spare even the youth, children, and elderly people. Everyday, a case of panic attack or anxiety disorder is being reported. More and more people are approaching doctors and therapists with problems of stress, anxiety, and panic attacks.

Causes of Panic Attacks and Anxiety Disorders

There is a wide range of treatment plans for these maladies; however, doctors and their patients fail to analyze the root causes of anxiety disorders and panic attacks.

Panic attacks can come suddenly, while others have a definite, known cause. However, every disorder has some factor responsible for it.

Here are some common factors that cause panic attacks and anxiety disorders.

1. Genetic

Studies have revealed the fact that people can inherit their panic attacks or anxiety disorders from their maternal or paternal ancestors. The disorder can be passed on from the paternal or the maternal side of the family.

Twins are more susceptible to panic attacks; if one twin gets it, the other develops a panic attack too.

Many times, a petty domestic issue or a problem can trigger a panic attack, and genes have nothing to do it although family has.

2. Passive Nature

If you make a character study of those who suffer from panic attacks, you will be surprised to observe that passive people who hardly assert themselves suffer from anxiety disorders or panic attacks. Inability to assert oneself can be an inborn trait or could be developed owing to certain unfortunate circumstances.

3. Vitamin Deficiencies

You might feel surprised to learn that vitamin deficiencies can trigger panic attacks. However, a person who lacks vitamin B is prone to anxiety disorders or panic attacks. Vitamin B deficiency also manifests as disturbances in the inner ear, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, and so on. In such a case, intake of vitamin B can solve your problems of anxiety disorder or panic attack.

Cure vitamin deficiency problems, and you will automatically cure anxiety disorders and panic attacks.

4. Phobias

Irrational fears or phobias about certain things, people, or circumstances can lead to a panic attack or anxiety disorder. People might be terrified of water, elevators, fires, heights, and so on. People who never had a phobia in their life might feel that phobias are absurd. However to people suffering from them, phobias are real. These people usually end up suffering from anxiety disorders or panic attacks as well.

5. Drugs

Some drugs can actually cause panic attacks and anxiety disorders. These drugs could be either prescribed or unprescribed. Some drugs comprise chemicals that do not agree with certain individuals. Intake of such drugs will cause irritability and restlessness, two common signs of a panic attack.

The medical world offers zillions of treatment plans for the effective management of anxiety disorders and panic attacks. Therapy offers a long-term solution to these medical problems. If you find it difficult to control a panic attack, do not hesitate to seek professional help. Do some research and find out what alternative health options may be available to you as well.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder – OCD and Obsessions With Hair

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder – OCD and Obsessions With Hair

Article by Derek J. Soto

Are you obsessed with hair in any way shape or form?

Do you feel that if you don’t do something like twirl your hair or put it in a certain way that something bad may happen?

You don’t have to worry about this as you are not alone. You see girls mostly, some guys too, but mostly girls twirl their hair and or have obsessions that have to do with it.

Some girls twirl their hair to deal with nervousness and other situations. Most of the time it’s not OCD. But when someone does it to prevent something that they fear from happening, now that’s OCD.

There are some simple steps that you can follow right now that will help you in becoming OCD free concerning your hair.

The first step is to realize that it is a type of OCD

The second step is to realize that doing anything with your hair is not going to affect what you think it will.

You need also to stop worrying about what other people think about you and start caring more about what you think about you.

The thirst step is, the next time you feel like doing something to your hair to prevent something bad that you think will happen, resist the temptation and tell yourself that you won’t do something out of fear and that you refuse to do the ritual.

The fourth step is to then focus on what you really want or need to do right now that would be productive, maybe take notes in class, study, hang out, read a book, run your business, whatever it is. Think about good things, not obsessions.

Take action: When you feel the need to do anything to your hair or wear it a certain way to prevent something bad from happening don’t. There is nothing wrong with a good hair style, just don’t become obsessed with it and don’t do it out of fear.

Good Charlotte – Crash – Bonus Track

Bonus track from new album Cardiology – CRASH + LYRICS HERE !!! It feels so strange To be back at your place You look away A smile creeps across your face Remember the sounds, the laughs, the screams, the crashing plates How we’d lay awake all night and listen to the rain What if I just crash here tonight? I can tell you’re lonely You’ve seen this look a thousand times Don’t you know what it means? I just came by to get my things But now we’re both here wondering What if I just crash here tonight? Would you let me? Would you let me? Would you let me? I knock on the door And feel the nervousness inside You open it up and say hello And it subsides So I can admit I’ve said some things that just aren’t true And we both agree we’ve done some things we shouldn’t do What if I just crash here tonight? I can tell you’re lonely You’ve seen this look a thousand times Don’t you know what it means? I just came by to get my things But now we’re both here wondering What if I just crash here tonight? Would you let me? Would you let me? Would you let me? I know you’ve been trying so hard to forget me Ignoring all my calls and I know you’ve been lonely And all your girlfriends they won’t even look at me I heard about the guy that you started to date I heard about the drama Yeah I heard that you laid him I did the math and we both know what that means What if I just crash here tonight? I can tell you’re lonely You’ve seen this look a thousand times Don’t you know what it means? I just came

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder – When Your OCD Involves Obsessions With UFO’s

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder – When Your OCD Involves Obsessions With UFO’s

Article by Derek J. Soto

Do you ever watch the History Channel ™ ?

Do you ever see the shows on there that they talk about UFO’s?

They make them seem so real huh? It seems like there are some people out there that spend all their time just looking for UFO’s.

There are so many things going on in our skies, planes, military vehicles and meteors among a plethora of other natural happenings that people think that some of the things they are seeing are UFO’s.

Now I don’t think there is anything wrong with looking for UFO’s but when it becomes an obsession and you actually start performing rituals to prevent some kind of evil that you think might happen, that’s when I care. That’s when it turns from a friendly little interest in UFO’s to an obsession, then full out OCD.

What you may need to do to become OCD free especially in this area is to stop looking for UFO’s. If you really are serious about getting over this type of OCD, find a different hobby at least for a while. That way you can let the obsession cool down and die out.

Know that the Government has so many things looking at the sky and the space programs among many other agencies are looking at the sky that if there is a UFO, they’ll find it. They don’t need you.

If you are going to continue to look at UFO’s, don’t perform any rituals and limit how much time you spend looking for them.

Make sure there is a good balance in your life between your job, family and your hobbies.

Take action: Make sure that you spend less than %33 of your time on looking for UFO’s while you’re trying to get over the obsession. If it’s really bothersome, stop looking for them for a while. Put the telescope away or what have you and spend more time doing something else, something more productive. Rest easy knowing that there are so many agencies looking at the sky already that if there is anything worth finding, they will find it.
